- Abstract: This paper overviews of heat transfer mechanism and application of nanofluid application in microchannel by using well known single phase heat convection techniques. Liquids have high thermal conductivity than gases and therefore the higher removal heat generated rate in devices use liquids as a coolant for cooling in heat transfer is common. For further enhancement of liquid thermal conductivity and hence convective heat transfer nanofluids are quite promising. Applications of nanofluids have demonstrated that the thermal conductivity increases with decreasing grain size. However such increases thermal conductivity cannot be explained by existing theories. Four possible explanation for this anomalous increase; brownian motion of the particle, molecular level layering of the liquid at the liquid particle interface, the nature of heat transport in the nanoparticles and the effect of nanoparticles clustering.
