Abstract : A total synthesis of the antimalarial indolo[3, 2- j ]phenanthridine alkaloid calothrixin B is reported. The key intermediate, ketoester11, was assembled using sequential Sonogashira coupling and intra/intermolecular fashioned copper-catalyzed oxidative cyclization reactions.
