Abstract: Starting from 2‐bromo(hetero)aryl aldehydes, diverse terminal acetylenes and 1‐chloropropargyl(hetero)arenes an access to ortho‐fused cycloocta‐2, 5‐dien‐1‐ones is developed which tolerates various functional groups.
