- ABSTRACT: In this issue, we explore the use of text functions available in Excel. As an energy professional, you often receive or retrieve data from many sources in a wide variety of formats such as a text or a CSV file. You don't always have control over the data format when you import from an external source. Before you can analyze the imported data, you often need to clean it up, and this is where Excel's text functions help you get the data in the precise format that you need for further analysis.
