- Abstract: The new aminoalane reagent, in situ prepared from DIBAL‐H and NH4 Cl, reacts cleanly with aliphatic carboxylic acids, esters and amides as well as lactones to the corresponding nitriles while benzoic acids and esters give a significant amount of corresponding amides.
