Abstract: Using title reagent (II), a number of benzo[d]oxazolones (III), ‐imidazolones (V) and ‐thiazolones (VII) and (IX) are easily prepared from 2‐aminophenols (I), ortho‐phenylenediamines (IV) and 2‐aminothiophenols (VI) and (VIII) in high yields.
