Abstract: A four‐step one‐pot procedure involving generation of α‐bromo aluminum acetals, their subsequent radical cyclization followed by oxidation of the resulting cyclic aluminum acetals and base promoted double bond migration is developed to convert α‐bromoesters derived from propargylic alcohols to butenolides.
