Abstract: Large crystals of Ba1.9 Ca2.4 Mg9.7 Si7 and the compound Ba1.2 Sr0.9 Mg11.9 Ge7 are prepared from the elements in Mg/Al flux (stainless steel crucibles, 950 °C for 10 h and 750 °C for 24 h).
