- <abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>The first experimental observation</bold> of the hitherto elusive triazane (N<sub>3</sub>H<sub>5</sub>) molecule in the gas phase is verified with electronic structure calculations. By a combined theoretical and experimental approach, it is shown that triazane is surprisingly stable and survives sublimation into the gas phase, where it can be identified by using vacuum ultraviolet single photon ionization coupled with reflectron time‐of‐flight mass spectroscopy. Triazane is of fundamental interest because, so far, only two single bonded nitrogen hydrides, ammonia (NH<sub>3</sub>) and hydrazine (N<sub>2</sub>H<sub>4</sub>), are known.
