Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en" id="adom201500173-abs-0001"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>The extremely brilliant whiteness shown by the <italic>Cyphochilus</italic> beetle</bold> is generated by multiple scattering of light inside the ultrathin scales that cover its body, whose interior is characterized by an anisotropic nanostructured network of chitin filaments.
