- <abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <sec id="pssb201552077-sec-0001" sec-type="section"> <p>The high‐pressure behavior of PbMoO<sub>4</sub> has been studied by <italic>in situ</italic> synchrotron radiation X‐ray diffraction (XRD) combined with a diamond anvil cell (DAC) up to ∼38 GPa. At room temperature, phase transitions of PbMoO<sub>4</sub> from the scheelite structure to the wolframite structure and then to amorphization are detected at ∼8.3 and ∼35 GPa, respectively. Pressure–volume relationships of PbMoO<sub>4</sub> are described by the Birch–Murnaghan equation of state, giving <italic>V</italic><sub>0</sub> = 355.8(3) Å<sup>3</sup>, <italic>K</italic><sub>0</sub> = 73(4) GPa, <italic>K</italic><sub>0</sub>′ = 5(1) (third order) for the scheelite‐structured phase and <italic>V</italic><sub>0</sub> = 166(1) Å<sup>3</sup>, <italic>K</italic><sub>0</sub> = 85(4) GPa, <italic>K</italic><sub>0</sub>′ = 4 (fixed) (second order) for the wolframite‐structured phase. When PbMoO<sub>4</sub> undergoes the high‐temperature annealing treatment at ∼17.5 GPa, it will dissociate into assembly of the PbO (<italic>Pbcm</italic> and <italic>Z</italic> = 4) and PbMo<sub>2</sub>O<sub>7</sub> (<italic>P</italic>2<sub>1</sub>/<italic>c</italic> and <italic>Z </italic>= 4).</p> </sec> </abstract>
