Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="toc"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <graphic position="anchor" id="ga" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgj2rw4xrgb" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" />A Schiff base (<bold>RC</bold>) is presented herein as a smart fluorescent material for the selective detection and bioimaging of methanol. The key step behind same involves methanol induced opening of the cyclic control unit of <bold>RC</bold> resulting in the formation of a highly fluorescent moiety, <bold>RO</bold>.</p> </abstract>
