<abstract abstract-type="toc"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <graphic position="anchor" id="ga" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgj2rw4xc7s" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" />The structure of 1, 8-bis(phenylethynyl)anthracene has been studied in detail in the gas phase and the solid state by a combined GED/MS method and by XRD of a single crystal. Aryl⋯aryl interactions are discussed in terms of dispersive forces.</p> </abstract>
