- <abstract abstract-type="main" id="jonm12223-abs-0001"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <sec id="jonm12223-sec-0001" sec-type="section"> <title>Aim</title> <p>To describe mid‐level nurse managers' experiences of sensegiving in the context of hospital projects.</p> </sec> <sec id="jonm12223-sec-0002" sec-type="section"> <title>Background</title> <p>Sensegiving is about shaping and affecting how employees see themselves, their work and issues related to their work. It has been little studied in the context of hospital projects from mid‐level nurse managers' point of view.</p> </sec> <sec id="jonm12223-sec-0003" sec-type="section"> <title>Method</title> <p>Mid‐level nurse managers (<italic>n</italic> = 10) were interviewed about their experiences of projects from the viewpoint of sensegiving during change processes. Data was analysed using discourse analysis.</p> </sec> <sec id="jonm12223-sec-0004" sec-type="section"> <title>Results</title> <p>Three repertoires were constructed from the data: the repertoires of regeneration, control and humane.</p> </sec> <sec id="jonm12223-sec-0005" sec-type="section"> <title>Conclusion</title> <p>Projects were considered as appropriate ways for sensegiving in hospitals from the viewpoint of mid‐level nurse managers.
