- <abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>Using Cu(NO<sub>3</sub>)<sub>2</sub> as metal salt, [Cu<sub>3</sub>(cpida)(phen)<sub>2</sub>(H<sub>2</sub>O)<sub>5</sub>]<bold>·</bold>3NO<sub>3</sub><bold>·</bold>2H<sub>2</sub>O (<bold>1</bold>) and {[Cu<sub>2</sub>(cpida)(phen)(NO<sub>3</sub>)]<bold>·</bold>2H<sub>2</sub>O}<italic><sub>n</sub></italic> (<bold>2a</bold>) were synthesized from an identical starting mixture with 2‐(carboxyphenyl)iminodiacetic acid (H<sub>3</sub>cpida) and 1, 10‐phenanthroline (phen) at 5 °C and 25 °C, respectively. Additionally, complexes <bold>2b</bold>–<bold>2d</bold>, which are isostructural to <bold>2a</bold>, were obtained using Cu(ClO<sub>4</sub>)<sub>2</sub>, Cu(BF<sub>4</sub>)<sub>2</sub>, and Cu(CF<sub>3</sub>SO<sub>3</sub>)<sub>2</sub> instead of Cu(NO<sub>3</sub>)<sub>2</sub> in the temperature range 0–65 °C. <bold>1</bold> is characterized by a V‐shaped trinuclear Cu<sup>II</sup> monomer, whereas <bold>2a</bold>–<bold>2d</bold> features a one‐dimensional (1D) Δ Cu<sup>II</sup> chain. Abundant hydrogen bonds constructed by the nitrate anion are observed in <bold>1</bold>. A structural transformation study was undertaken and revealed that <bold>1</bold> could completely transform into <bold>2a</bold> from the reaction solution at 25 °C and the temperature plays a crucial role in the process.
