<abstract xml:lang="en" abstract-type="author-highlights" id="ab005"> <title id="st095">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="sp0005"> <list id="l0005"> <list-item id="o0005"> <label></label> <p id="p0175">In comparison with matched controls, VEMPs were consistently altered in patients with Parkinson's Disease (PD) and severity of abnormalities progressively increased with stage of disease.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="o0010"> <label></label> <p id="p0180">In PD significant correlation was found between VEMP alterations and both postural instability and REM sleep behavior disorder.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="o0015"> <label></label> <p id="p0185">Combined use of VEMPs may provide insights into pathophysiological dynamics of brainstem involvement at the earliest phases of PD.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
