- <abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>By studying</bold> the atomic structures, electronic structures, and NIR photocatalytic activities of Cu<sub>3</sub>(OH)<sub>4</sub>SO<sub>4</sub>, Cu<sub>4</sub>(OH)<sub>6</sub>SO<sub>4</sub>, Cu<sub>2</sub>(OH)PO<sub>4</sub>, and Cu<sub>2</sub>(OH)<sub>3</sub>Cl, B. Huang et al. have found that the presence of two different CuO<sub><italic>m</italic></sub> and Cu′O<sub><italic>n</italic></sub> polyhedra linked with CuOCu′ bridges and the acceptor groups linked to the copper–oxygen polyhedra are the two conditions required for NIR‐photocatalysts. This work may lead to a search for new NIR photocatalysts in transition‐metal oxides possessing two different CuO<sub><italic>m</italic></sub> and Cu′O<sub><italic>n</italic></sub> polyhedra.
