Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="author-highlights" id="abs0005"> <title id="sect0005">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="spar0005"> <list id="lis0005"> <list-item id="lsti0005"> <label></label> <p id="par0005">Sulfonylureas (SU) are commonly used oral anti-diabetic agents known to cause hypoglycemia.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0010"> <label></label> <p id="par0010">We conducted a retrospective cohort study to evaluate association of SU use and emergency room (ER) utilization among elderly patients with type 2 diabetes.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0015"> <label></label> <p id="par0015">Our results suggest that compared to other patients, those who were on SU were more likely to have an ER visit.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
