- <abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en" id="aenm201500165-abs-0001"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>A quantitative analysis of in situ and operando X‐ray diffraction studies</bold> allows for deeper insight into the mechanism of Li<sub>2</sub>S formation and consumption. A two‐step reaction process is proposed for both discharge and charge. Changing selectivity for Li<sub>2</sub>S formation is estimated, with solely Li<sub>2</sub>S being formed during the earliest step, followed by possible concurrent formation of Li<sub>2</sub>S<sub>2</sub> intermediate in the further step of discharge. <graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgj2fzmmzm0" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /></p> </abstract>
