<abstract abstract-type="short" id="pd4621-abs-0001"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p id="pd4621-para-0001"> <bold>What's already known about this topic?</bold> <list id="pd4621-list-0001" list-type="bullet"> <list-item id="pd4621-li-0001"> <p>There is increasing evidence that cell therapy using mesenchymal stem cells could have a beneficial effect in treating adult lung disease. Amniotic fluid stem cells are a population of cells with multipotent differentiation capacities.
