- <abstract abstract-type="author-highlights" id="abs0005"> <title id="sect0005">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="spar0005"> <list id="lis0005"> <list-item id="lsti0005"> <label></label> <p id="par0005">This study investigated the influence of different pelvic tissue types as well as the choice of thermal property parameters on the efficacy of endorectal cooling balloon (ECB).</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0015"> <label></label> <p id="par0015">Prostate size and periprostatic venous plexus were two major factors affecting ECB cooling efficiency.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0020"> <label></label> <p id="par0020">Large prostate made the cooling difficult to propagate through the prostate.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0025"> <label></label> <p id="par0025">Patients with abundant periprostatic venous plexus required a longer time for neurovascular bundle (NVB) cooling.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0035"> <label></label> <p id="par0035">This feasibility study demonstrated that the simulation tool could potentially be used for adjusting the setting of ECB for hypothermic radical prostatectomy.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
