Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en" id="mbo3260-abs-0002"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <italic>Lactobacillus fermentum</italic> is commonly found in fermented foods and is generally thought to be harmless. However, <italic>L. fermentum</italic> AGR1487 dramatically decreases transepithelial electrical resistance, a measure of intestinal barrier integrity.
