- <abstract abstract-type="toc"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <graphic position="anchor" id="ga" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgj2b3c87qb" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" />Novel BODIPY derivatives exhibiting environmental polarity and combined environmental polarity/Hg<sup>2+</sup> and Pb<sup>2+</sup> fluorescence sensing properties have been prepared. The sensing properties are the result of a switchable photoinduced electron transfer (PeT) quenching mechanism.</p> </abstract>
