Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="toc"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <graphic position="anchor" id="ga" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgj268dhwdk" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" />Alkoxy substituted halogenated <italic>closo</italic>-dodecaborate anions [B₁₂X₁₁OR]²⁻ (X = Cl, Br; R = alkyl) have been synthesized and fully characterized. Thermal analyses were carried out to reveal their properties for possible applications in ionic liquids. The new salt [C₆mim]₂[B₁₂Cl₁₁O-propyl] is an elusive example of an ionic liquid containing a doubly charged anion.</p> </abstract>
