<abstract abstract-type="toc"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <graphic position="anchor" id="ga" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgj2687ss90" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" />An epimer of the known glycosidase inhibitor noeurostegine, <italic>galacto</italic>-noeurostegine, was synthesised in 21 steps from levoglucosan and found to be a potent, competitive and highly selective galactosidase inhibitor of <italic>Aspergillus oryzae</italic> β-galactosidase.</p> </abstract>
