<abstract xml:lang="en" abstract-type="author-highlights" id="ab005"> <title id="st080">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="sp0005"> <list id="l0005"> <list-item id="o0005"> <label></label> <p id="p0090">HLIF is a navigated minimally invasive technique, that combines advantages of the PLIF and TLIF approach.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="o0010"> <label></label> <p id="p0095">A traditional unilateral dorsal midline approach serves for thorough decompression as well as implantation of ipsilateral pedicle screws in a vertical (dorsoventral) fashion.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="o0015"> <label></label> <p id="p0100">The same unilateral dorsal midline approach is employed to implant a specially designed cage.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="o0020"> <label></label> <p id="p0105">Contralateral pedicle screws are placed in a traditional minimally invasive percutaneous dorsolateral fashion.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="o0025"> <label></label> <p id="p0110">HLIF minimizes tissue trauma.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
