<abstract abstract-type="author-highlights" id="ab0010"> <title id="st0010">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="sp0010"> <list id="ulist0010"> <list-item id="u0010"> <label></label> <p id="p0010">A biochemical and structural study of the equine SL after injury is reported.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="u0015"> <label></label> <p id="p0015">Purified fibrils of types I, III, and V collagens were analysed.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="u0020"> <label></label> <p id="p0020">Significant changes in types I, III and V collagen in damaged SL are recorded.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="u0025"> <label></label> <p id="p0025">These changes are highlighted for several months in injured tissue.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="u0030"> <label></label> <p id="p0030">Quantitative data and structural observations are highly related.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
