<abstract xml:lang="en" abstract-type="author-highlights" id="ab005"> <title id="st130">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="sp0005"> <list id="l0005"> <list-item id="o0005"> <label></label> <p id="p0250">To reduce the number of channels to two bipolar channels a novel reduction method for motor imagery is presented, which outperformed a published procedure and the standard placement.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="o0010"> <label></label> <p id="p0255">Using an individualized electrode subset, a longitudinal study was performed over four days of motor imagery practice, in which significant learning effects could be observed.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="o0015"> <label></label> <p id="p0260">On days 2–4 practice took place in an everyday environment using a very user-friendly EEG system consisting of individualized caps and a low-cost wireless hardware.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
