<abstract abstract-type="author-highlights" id="abs0005"> <title id="sect0005">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="spar0005"> <list id="lis0005"> <list-item id="lsti0005"> <label></label> <p id="par0005">We assessed depression in Australian Aboriginal and Anglo-Celt patients with type 2 diabetes.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0010"> <label></label> <p id="par0010">Depression was more than twice as prevalent in the Aboriginal group.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0015"> <label></label> <p id="par0015">This difference was no longer evident after adjustment for confounders, but there was still more major and untreated depression amongst Aboriginals.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0020"> <label></label> <p id="par0020">Depression was associated with adverse cardiovascular risk factors.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
