<abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>A series of new 1, 10‐phenanthroline derivatives (IV) are synthesized by four‐component domino reaction of 8‐hydroxyquinoline with aromatic aldehydes, acetoacetates and ammonium acetate under both conventional thermal or microwave irradiation conditions.</p> </abstract>
