<abstract xml:lang="en" abstract-type="author-highlights" id="ab005"> <title id="st060">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="sp0005"> <list id="l0005"> <list-item id="o0005"> <label></label> <p id="p0235">Elderly subjects with recent-onset, non-symptomatic focal epilepsy show a significant propensity to express interictal epileptiform abnormalities mainly during NREM 3–4 sleep.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="o0010"> <label></label> <p id="p0240">Age per se seems to affect this peculiar spiking pattern.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="o0015"> <label></label> <p id="p0245">This observation might be useful when choosing EEG recording procedures in the presence of suspected recent-onset focal epileptic seizures.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
