Abstract

<abstract xml:lang="en" abstract-type="author-highlights" id="ab005"> <title id="st100">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="sp0005"> <list id="l0005"> <list-item id="o0005"> <label></label> <p id="p0200">Event related spectral perturbations of thalamic local field potentials (LFP) and coherences with EEG reveal synchronous discharges starting 1000–1500 ms prior to spontaneous tics in Tourette syndrome.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="o0010"> <label></label> <p id="p0205">Intra-thalamic coherences not locked to tics in a frequency range from 1 to 8 Hz are found in all three patients.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="o0015"> <label></label> <p id="p0210">In one patient in which the effect of deep brain stimulation on thalamic electrical activity was studied, a decrease in spectral power below 10 Hz and a suppression of spontaneous tics was found.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
