- <abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>Electrochemistry</bold> In electrocatalytic production of H<sub>2</sub> by [Ni(PR<sub>2</sub>NR′<sub>2</sub>)<sub>2</sub>]<sup>2+</sup> complexes, protonation of the Ni<sup>I</sup> intermediate is a critical step that influences the efficiency of catalysis. In their Full Paper on <ext-link ext-link-type="doi" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">page 10338 ff.</ext-link>, E. S. Wiedner, M. van Gastel et al. investigate this reaction step by using cyclic voltammetry and hyperfine sublevel correlation (HYSCORE) spectroscopy. These studies revealed that protonation occurs at a pendant amine that is endo to Ni<sup>I</sup> due to formation of an intramolecular Ni<sup>I</sup>⋅⋅⋅HN bonding interaction.
