<abstract abstract-type="toc"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <graphic position="anchor" id="ga" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgj1c6cfsq9" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" />An azobenzene glucoside was synthesized and was shown to be an excellent selective inhibitor of <italic>Escherichia coli</italic> glycogen synthase in its photogenerated (<italic>Z</italic>)-form, which structurally resembles the three terminal glucoses of a glycogen branch.</p> </abstract>
