- <abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <sec id="vsu12322-sec-0001" sec-type="section"> <title>Objectives</title> <p>To evaluate the effect of periosteal transection and elevation in foals with naturally occurring carpal valgus deviation.</p> </sec> <sec id="vsu12322-sec-0002" sec-type="section"> <title>Study Design</title> <p>Prospective clinical study.</p> </sec> <sec id="vsu12322-sec-0003" sec-type="section"> <title>Animals</title> <p>Foals (n = 9) with bilateral carpal valgus.</p> </sec> <sec id="vsu12322-sec-0004" sec-type="section"> <title>Methods</title> <p>Foals with bilateral carpal valgus had distolateral radial periosteal transection and elevation (PE) including distal ulnar transection on 1 limb. Foals were stall confined until the skin incisions healed, and then allowed free exercise in a small paddock or round pen.
