- <abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en" id="marc201500079-abs-0001"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>A smart valve is created by 4D printing of hydrogels</bold> that are both mechanically robust and thermally actuating. The printed hydrogels are made up of an interpenetrating network of alginate and poly(<italic>N</italic>‐isopropylacrylamide). 4D structures are created by printing the "dynamic" hydrogel ink alongside other static materials. <graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgj10cnfmwz" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /></p> </abstract>
