<abstract abstract-type="author-highlights" id="ab0010"> <title id="st0010">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="sp0010"> <list id="ulist0010"> <list-item id="u0010"> <label></label> <p id="p9010">Laser immunotherapy (LIT) is a novel cancer treatment strategy that uses local photothermal irradiation and a local immunological stimulation.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="u9015"> <label></label> <p id="p9015">A novel immunoadjuvant, glycated chitosan (GC), was developed to work with laser interaction to creates an <italic>in situ</italic> autologous cancer vaccine (inCVAX).</p> </list-item> <list-item id="u9020"> <label></label> <p id="p9020">Furthermore, inCVAX has been administered in initial clinical trials for the treatment of patients with metastatic breast cancer with promising outcomes.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
