<abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>Single crystals of Na<sub>8</sub>Eu<sub>2</sub>(Si<sub>2</sub>S<sub>6</sub>)<sub>2</sub> (I) and Na<sub>8</sub>Eu<sub>2</sub>(Ge<sub>2</sub>S<sub>6</sub>)<sub>2</sub> (II) are prepared by a polychalcogenide reactive flux method using the elements and freshly prepared Na<sub>2</sub>S<sub>2</sub> in nearly stoichiometric amounts (evacuated silica tubes, 750 °C, 150 h; 5 °C/h cooling rate).</p> </abstract>
