<abstract abstract-type="author-highlights" id="abs0005"> <title id="sect0005">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="spar0005"> <list id="lis0005"> <list-item id="lsti0005"> <label></label> <p id="par0005">Union rates of 1st MTPJ arthrodesis were not affected by joint configuration (flat-on-flat or ball-and-socket).</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0010"> <label></label> <p id="par0010">The technique used to prepare the joint surfaces did not statistically influence the union rates of 1st MTPJ arthrodesis.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0015"> <label></label> <p id="par0015">There was a 95% satisfaction rate with 1st MTPJ arthrodesis but male patients were less satisfied.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
