- <abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en" id="aenm201500375-abs-0001"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>A nanostructured architecture is proposed for reduced‐temperature solid oxide fuel cells, </bold> featuring thin scandium‐stabilized zirconia electrolytes sandwiched between two porous 430L metallic layers. Impregnating nanoscale catalysts into the porous 430L scaffolds—Ce<sub>0.8</sub>Sm<sub>0.2</sub>O<sub>1.9</sub>/Ni at the anodes and SmBa<sub>0.5</sub>Sr<sub>0.5</sub>Co<sub>2</sub>O<sub>5</sub> at the cathodes—yields encouraging power densities of 1.02 W cm<sup>−2</sup> at 600 °C and 0.6 W cm<sup>−2</sup> at 550 °C. <graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgjr8vg07g" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /></p> </abstract>
