<abstract abstract-type="toc"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <graphic position="anchor" id="ga" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgjp0dpm5q" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" />Here we demonstrate the surface plasmon (SP) induced nitration of benzene by an <italic>in situ</italic> surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) technique, where the plasmonic heating effect arising from SP is necessarily involved.</p> </abstract>
