- <abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <sec id="clen201400113-sec-0001" sec-type="section"> <p>In the present study, antioxidant parameters were measured in whole body of Chinese rare minnow larvae (<italic>Gobiocypris rarus</italic>) after exposure to Cd<sup>2+</sup> (0, 0.5, and 2.5 mg/L) for four days, as well as a series of genes expression, including cortisol receptor (<italic>cr</italic>), Na<sup>+</sup>/K<sup>+</sup>‐ATPase (<italic>aptase</italic>), and prolactin (<italic>prl</italic>) genes involved in ion‐regulatory process, insulin‐like growth factor I (<italic>igf1</italic>) and growth hormone (<italic>gh</italic>) related to growth rate, as well as heat shock protein 70 (<italic>hsp70</italic>) and metallothionein (<italic>mt</italic>) used as physiological stress indices. The results showed that oxidative stress was generated in fish exposed to Cd<sup>2+</sup> and the transcription of the <italic>cr</italic>, <italic>atpase</italic>, <italic>gh</italic>, <italic>hsp70</italic>, and <italic>mt</italic> genes increased in a dose‐dependent manner, but two genes expressions, <italic>prl</italic> and <italic>igf1</italic>, showed a decrease in the treated groups.
