Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en" id="crat201400484-abs-0001"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p>Two facile approaches; thermal decomposition and chemical precipitation, for the synthesis of zinc oxide (ZnO) micro and nanostructures were employed and investigated. Thermal decomposition proved efficient for mass‐scale synthesis but was unsuitable for nano‐synthesis and rendered less morphological control. Unique 3‐D hexagonal morphologies were achieved using hexamethylenetetramine surfactant while spherical nanoparticles were produced by polyvinyl alcohol in chemical precipitation.
