<abstract abstract-type="toc"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <graphic position="anchor" id="ga" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgjn2gtxbp" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" />A two step mild oxidation process instead of extensive oxidation of graphite based on Hummers' method (H-GO) preserves the honeycomb graphene sheet structures in the range of 51 Å without reduction of mGO.</p> </abstract>
