<abstract abstract-type="main" id="ccr3212-abs-0001"> <title>Key Clinical Message</title> <p>We have used a hypomethylating agent instead of conventional chemotherapy to induce remission in a young Jehovah's Witness with acute monocytic leukemia to avoid severe myelosuppression and blood product support. The treatment was consolidated with reduced intensity allogeneic stem cell transplantation. This could be an alternative when transfusions must be avoided.</p> </abstract>
