Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="main"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p>A convenient and simple method for the preparation of polybrominated benzimidazole derivatives has been described. Reaction of 4, 5, 6, 7‐tetrabromo‐1‐(3‐chloropropyl)‐1<italic>H</italic>‐benzimidazole, obtained by <named-content content-type="reactionType" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">alkylation</named-content> of 4, 5, 6, 7‐tetrabromo‐1<italic>H</italic>‐benzimidazole (TBBi) with 1‐bromo‐3‐chloropropane in the presence of KOH, with morpholine, aniline, benzylamine, <italic>N</italic>‐methyl piperazine, and 2‐arylpyrrolidines afforded new TBBi derivatives.</p> </abstract>
