<abstract abstract-type="author-highlights" id="abs0005"> <title id="sect0005">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="spar0005"> <list id="lis0005"> <list-item id="lsti0005"> <label></label> <p id="par0005">Mortality of burn patients has decreased in the last decades.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0010"> <label></label> <p id="par0010">A retrospective study was performed in patients who died between January 2006 and December 2011.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0015"> <label></label> <p id="par0015">The overall mortality rate was 3.2%.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0020"> <label></label> <p id="par0020">Most deaths occur early, in patients who receive only palliative care.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0025"> <label></label> <p id="par0025">In late mortality, MOF is the most common cause of death.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
