Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="author-highlights" id="ab0010"> <title id="st0010">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="sp0010"> <list id="ulist9010"> <list-item id="u9010"> <label></label> <p id="p9010">A retrospective analysis of 410 declarations of lightning related fatalities (LRF) in livestock is presented.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="u9015"> <label></label> <p id="p9015">52.9% of the declarations were not compatible with fatal lightning stroke.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="u9020"> <label></label> <p id="p9020">Pathognomonic singe lesions were present in only 43.3% of the confirmed cases.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="u9025"> <label></label> <p id="p9025">Combining the veterinary expert investigation with lightning detection data resulted in the most correct LRF diagnosis.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
