<abstract xml:lang="en" abstract-type="author-highlights" id="ab005"> <title id="st040">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="sp0005"> <list id="l0005"> <list-item id="o0005"> <label></label> <p id="p0175">Transient muscle weakness, a frequent symptom of nondystrophic myotonias, can be measured by the transient compound muscle action potential depression.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="o0010"> <label></label> <p id="p0180">Mexiletine, the currently preferred antimyotonic drug, efficiently reduces the transient compound muscle action potential depression.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="o0015"> <label></label> <p id="p0185">The 3 Hz prolonged low-rate repetitive nerve stimulation might be considered a helpful tool to objectively assess the anti-myotonic effect of drugs in myotonic patients.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
