<abstract xml:lang="en" abstract-type="author-highlights" id="ab005"> <title id="st085">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="sp0005"> <list id="l0005"> <list-item id="o0005"> <label></label> <p id="p0185">Secondary somatosensory cortex (SII) responses complement neonatal neurological evaluation in predicting neurodevelopmental outcome in extremely preterm infants.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="o0010"> <label></label> <p id="p0190">SII responses can be measured with MEG as well as with the routinely available bedside EEG-SEP recordings.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="o0015"> <label></label> <p id="p0195">Use of sensory responses as a part of routine EEG studies holds promise to significantly expand early neurophysiological evaluation of neonates after adversities.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
